Festival Radio will be broadcasting on 87.9 FM throughout the East Reading Festival on 17th to 21st May, covering the Caversham, Woodley, Sonning, Whitley, Tilehurst, Earley and Oxford Road areas.
Following the success of last year’s broadcasts. loyal listeners will be happy to learn that Festival Radio will be returning for another 4 day RSL (Restricted service licence) between 17th and 21st May on 87.9 FM, broadcasting around the clock.
RCR received its first funding in 2006 in the form of two grants awarded by Berkshire Community Foundation, following which the broadcasting license for the West Reading Festival weekend was approved. The first Festival Radio broadcasts running from 18th to 21st May 2006 were a huge success, with a continuous stream of live DJ's, even through the night. During the day listeners enjoyed a series of interviews and items concerning local community organisations.
Broadcasting from the Broad Street Mall, Reading Community Radio aims to give voice to those sections of the community who are not served by main stream radio, and to promote well-being, harmony and benefit to the community with special emphasis on minority and disadvantaged groups.
