Futuristic Business Centre Proposed for Reading
Pictures have been revealed of a development that aims to turn Reading into a business centre for the 21st century.
Images of a futuristic £400 million development for Station Hill went on display last week and were also published in a local paper.
The 1.4 million sq ft development has been designed for a huge 3.25-acre area of the location.
Sackville Properties, owned by local construction tycoon John Madejski, is undertaking the project along with developer Horstonbridge.
Director Jon Homan told the Reading Chronicle: "The continuing development of Reading as a business centre is at the core of Reading Borough Council's 2020 Vision policy.
"Our proposals show how the Station Hill area's redevelopment will be central to the town's business, residential, cultural and retail renaissance."
The site would not only house office space, but also retail and residential elements, and an arts venue.
"We plan to replace the tired and obsolete buildings adjacent to the rail and bus stations with a development fit for Reading and the 21st century," added Mr Homan.
