Local businesses raise money for local school facilities

Martin Salter, Labour MP for Reading West, opened Theale Church of England Primary School’s state-of-the-art, multi-functional new playground equipment on Monday October 13th in the presence of teachers, parents and pupils. The new facility combines swings, a climbing frame and a slide.

This new addition to the school’s play area is the product of money-raising events, dating back several years. Shelley Gore, along with her colleagues at the PTA for Theale Primary, have combined funds from local businesses with money raised at the Christmas and Summer Festivals, events which gave the children the chance to help their parents bake some delicious cakes and buns.

Mr Salter said:-

When I was asked to cut the ribbon and to formally open the new facility, I was delighted to accept. The teachers, pupils and parents of Theale Primary School have worked very hard for such a long time, and now they can enjoy the rewards of that labour. The kids can have great fun on the slide and swings knowing full well that they have played their own part in bringing such a facility to their school”.

Ms Gore added:-

“It is amazing to be able to provide the children with this new outdoor play equipment, and it will stand as testament to what our charitable community can achieve over a relatively short period of time, and, of-course we are thrilled that our local MP, Martin Salter, has agreed to officially open the play equipment”.
