Reading Beer Festival

The 2008 Reading Beer and Cider Festival King's Meadow in Napier Road, Reading will host the 2008 Reading Beer and Cider Festival on Thursday 1 May to Sunday 4 May. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers who are working non stop to make this year's Reading Beer and Cider Festival run without any hiccups. The event will run between Thursday 1 and Sunday 4 May, and with over 400 different types of beer, cider, perry and wine, it’s not surprising that this is one of the Reading’s premier events, with last year seeing a record 13,830 people visiting the festival in 2007. The festival has expanded since the 2007 show and is now said to be one of the largest beer festivals in the country, needing two giant marquees in Kings Meadow to host it. With ale coming from as far Cornwall and the Orkney Islands, there is nowhere else in the UK with a larger selection of beer and cider Prizes can be won at the tombola or by playing the traditional pub games with the return of the ever-popular Morris dancers and balloon modellers, as well as a selection of bands playing in the evenings Sunday is set as the Family Day with an authentic brewery dray with two shire horses in tow. There will also be the Suitcase Circus, face painting, a bouncy castle and a colouring competition for the kids. Times and prices: • Thursday 1 May: 4.30pm – 11pm: £4 • Friday 2 May: 11am – 11pm: £5 • Saturday 3 May: 11am – 11pm: £6 • Sunday 4 May: 12pm – 9pm: £4 www.businessinberkshire.co.uk
