Social Media Marketing doors to manual |
|
All the business building gurus who you see promoting events where they are the "Stars in their own eyes" are talking about auto responders sending a range of emails, each with a mission to talk to the recipients in different ways, in a fishing sense, tickling them into submission. One of the 10 message despatched is sure to hit the button.
And this may be true and can work well for those who are on a mincing machine. They fill the funnel with as much data as possible at the top for 1 or 2 pies to fall out at the bottom. Brilliant if you’re so detached from your audience that you don’t really give a hoot and are simply looking to bake a couple of pies, crack on. For me I need more of a personal touch. I send out regular emails on mass that share the aggregated info from my world but they contain a slice of me and this works so much better for me on many fronts. Recently I launched a new service with a pal of mine, Mark White, under the Social Media Directors brand. We’ve already done a couple of big events and when recently I was asked to take part in a franchise business expo I decided to put a new presentation together under the title of “How to get the best out of your social media networking”. This contained 17 tips, then 21 tips and I know it will keep growing. At the end of the presentation I told people I would forward the presentation if they wanted to know more. I then thought, “How about I put it up on the web and people can request it?” Within 2 days of putting the form up with no special promotion I had 10 requests, 5 from local businesses and 5 from “form junkies”. I reflect on the spam element and decide not to just automatically send the document to third parties, as some just want to steel the content and fill out their own sites. So best to respond to each genuine individual separately, with a personal email from my Outlook saying here is the presentation, please keep in touch. So let’s turn those social media marketing doors to manual and see what happens next!
