Ten years in the making and finally new information on the £400 million project to revitalise Slough have been unveiled. One of the regeneration plans is to level Brunel Bus Station, which has recently be associated with hit comedy series The Office and become an iconic symbol in its own right.

Gordon Brown sees in New Year in Hospital

Gordon Brown saw in his first New Year as Prime Minister by visiting Wexham Park Hospital in Slough. Accompanied by his wife by Sarah and Health Secretary, Alan Johnson, he walked the hospital thanking the dedicated crew of nurses, consultants and support staff for their sterling efforts over the holiday season.

Christmas jingle composer sought

Youths in Slough are being encouraged to create music in an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Slough Borough Council has asked residents under 19 to participate in a competition to produce a Christmas jingle.

Slough celebrates Shayne

Slough has received its guest of the year Shayne Ward as hundreds of screaming girls clambered to get a glimpse of the heartthrob. The pop singer and X Factor winner kick-started the festive season by switching on the Christmas lights in Slough, the Slough & Windsor Observer reports.

Queen visits Pinewood studios

Pinewood Studios got a taste of royalty of Friday and not because one of its current themes had a regal theme, the venue was in fact subject to a visit from the head monarch herself. The Queen - accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh - was at the famous film studios to celebrate the opening of a new entrance.

Sir Ian visits Slough

Sir Ian Botham was in Slough on Monday to promote a new luxury resort in Spain. The ex-England cricketer who has recently been knighted by the Queen was at Stoke Park Club in Stoke Poges to support Desert Springs, a retreat that the star himself owns a property in.
