Clarity, Focus, Direction Workshop a Success

Enterprise Link presented the first in their Creative Business Growth Workshop Series last Thursday evening (7th September) at Thames Valley University in Slough.

Entitled ‘Grow Your Business - Grow Your Income’, the free workshop was well-attended by business entrepreneurs from the area. The theme of the event was ‘Clarity, Focus, and Direction to move your business forward’ and the workshop was open to artists in the creative industries sector residing in Berkshire.

Bobbi Johal of Enterprise Link told Business in Berkshire the event had been a huge success, with much interaction by the participants. There were 15 business entrepreneurs looking to grow their sales and profits and 3 experts on call to share their experiences.

The workshop focused on the importance of setting clear goals and objectives. Participants were encouraged to look at their current business status, create a vision for the future, set measurable targets, visualise the achievement of specific goals, and create a step-by-step task list to take them where they wanted to be.

During the course of the evening one participant volunteered to undergo the process of creating a sales and marketing plan, following which the group split off into pairs to undertake the same exercise. So for example, one attendee set herself a target of 50 sales by end of June 2007, then calculated average cost of sale to obtain a realistic income target. The next step identified where her clients were likely to come from and potential routes to market.

The result? Everyone came away from the evening with a working sales and marketing plan.

The workshop itself drew to a close around 7.45pm, followed by question time with the panel of experts. A buffet and informal networking session followed.

The next workshop in this series is on Thursday, 5th October, 6pm to 9pm focussing on marketing growth strategies.

Schedule of workshops for the remainder of this series:

2nd November, 7th December, 11th January, 1st February, 1st March, 5th April, 3rd May, 7th June.
