Slough to celebrate black culture
Slough is to celebrate black culture this month as part of Black History Month.
TV's Robert McKewly of sitcom Desmonds will host The Get Up, Stand Up event on October 21st, Slough borough council reports.
The aim of the affair is to showcase the best in local talent, with music and performance artists set to wow the crowds.
Featured performers are Mystic life Band, Honey, Suga N Spice, Errol Fenton and Kurt Collins to name but a few.
Commissioner for leisure, cultural and community services councillor Julia Long comments that the event will be a time for the community to reflect upon the positive impact that black culture has had on society.
"We have benefited so much from the contribution of all our residents, helping to make our town a happy place to be," she remarks.
Slough will be welcoming Shayne Ward next month, as he kicks off the festive season and takes part in the ceremonial switching on of the Christmas lights.
