Business in Slough - Creative Champion Award for Jon Davey

Business in Berkshire’s Jon Davey was presented with a Creative Business Champion at the finale event in the ‘Grow Your Business – Grow Your Income’ series held at Baylis House in Slough last week.

Around 100 members, sponsors, councilors, and guests attended the event last Thursday, marking the end of the 10-month course and giving participants the opportunity to reflect on their achievements.

Community Business Advisor Bobbi Johal acknowledged the help Jon has given to the project from the outset: “Jon has given us plenty of strong support throughout the project, helping us move things forward. He really is a Creative Business Champion. We couldn’t have achieved the same level of success without his help.”

Bobbi first visited Jon last year, explaining she had been asked to manage a project on behalf of Slough Council, SEEDA, Slough Creative Academy, Slough Enterprise Hub, Thames Valley University and Hub and Spoke. The aim was to help businesses within the creative sector develop their business skills and raise their profits. Through the pages of Business in Berkshire the project was given a high profile, helping to generate awareness.

Jon Davey said “This is the best award I've ever received as I had no idea it was coming my way. I've always been happy to help others generate awareness for their cause and Bobbi's enthusiasm for her Creative Business Sector was infectious.”

Five of the course participants were also presented with an award on the evening, having increased their company turnover by more than £15,000 since the programme began:
Matt Davis (MDMA Limited), Roselin d’Costa (Shantana’s Creative Catering),
Spencer Lowe (Beat Routes), Jo Bryant (Pottytree Puppets), and Lucy Lee (Instinct Media).
