Business in Slough - An Aladdin’s Cave for Music Lovers

Tucked away in a back street of Langley you’ll find one of the best-known and best-loved music shops in the UK: Langley Guitar Centre. With an amazing range of instruments always in stock, the shop has become a haven for musicians, attracting customers from around the country and even abroad.

Proprietor Antoine Bohdjalian first opened the shop in 1968. “In those days, the premises were so small we had to rearrange the whole shop every time we had a delivery – even if it was just a couple of guitars and an amplifier” says Antoine. Over the years the shop has been extended several times and now features separate areas devoted to keyboards and vintage guitars.

Customers started pouring in right from the start, and today it is one of the best established music shops in the country. When asked what he attributes the success and longevity of his business to, Antoine usually mentions the parking: "It must be the ample parking that does it; people can literally park on our doorstep.” But as many loyal customers will testify, there’s much more to it than that.

As one regular customer commented: "they have a friendly, non-pressurized, personal manner that just makes you feel relaxed." A family business, the atmosphere is certainly calm and inviting, but the real treasure lies in the sheer diversity of instruments the shop has to offer. There really is something for everybody, from the beginner learning to play for the first time, right through to the professional musician or collector looking for a vintage instrument.

As well as an amazing selection of guitars and basses, the shop also sells pianos, keyboards, amplifiers, drums, sheet music, and PA systems. They also offer an equipment hire service and rehearsal studio.

“A browse through our web site gives a good indication of our range of equipment” adds Antoine. “Many customers, once they experience our understanding and understated approach, add their name to our 'regular customer’ list. It's almost like a club.”

The shop is at 126 Meadfield Road in Langley, close to junction 5 of the M4. “If you prefer old fashioned attention, you are welcome to call in” says Antoine, “even if it is for a chat and a cup of coffee we’d love to see you.”
