Royal County of Berkshire Show
The Newbury & District Agricultural Society will be presenting the annual Royal County of Berkshire Show at Newbury Showground on the 16th and 17th September. This year’s show will feature the Musical Drive of The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
The first Newbury Show was staged by the Society at Enborne Gate Farm on 28th September 1909 and has run every year since with the exception of brief gaps during the wars. The Show has been held at various venues around Newbury and was extended into a two-day event in 1976. The Society purchased Newbury Showground, at the intersection of the M4 and A34, in 1984. Since then the event has gone from strength to strength.
Now known as the Royal County of Berkshire Show, it is a highly respected agricultural and rural event which ranks among the top ten agricultural shows in the UK.
This year the Show features an exciting timetable of events in all the arenas, with the highlight being a display from The Musical Drive of the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery in the Vodafone Arena.
A new development for this year is the late night on Saturday 16th September. The show will remain open until 8pm so visitors can enjoy the floodlit performance of the Musical Drive of the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery and the ascent of the hot air balloons. All in the splendour of a late summer evening.
The Newbury & District Agricultural Society is a Registered Charity which aims to promote agriculture, horticulture, forestry, rural crafts and skills whilst educating the public in these areas.
The Society's social events provide educational and networking opportunities for its members and the local community.
