Responsible Retailer‘s reach for award’s

West Berkshire establishments where among several retailer’s to receive their Responsible Retailer status by the council.

Launched in an attempt to reduce smoking and alcohol the scheme has a strong focus among young people.

West Berkshire Council where pleased to see the vast number of retailers put in place the appropriate safeguards and training for members of staff to adhere to the strict standards for the award.

The council hopes to convince an estimated 60 per cent of alcohol and tobacco retailers to reach the Responsible Retailer Award level over a period of two years.

The following retailers have already received their certificates from trading standards at the council:

  • Hinds Head, Aldermaston;

  • Queens Hotel, Market Place, Newbury

  • The Downgate, Hungerford

  • McColls, Mortimer

  • The Blue Ball, Kintbury

  • The Prince of Wales, Kintbury

  • The Village Shop, Great Shefford

  • The Starting Gate, Newbury

  • Brummell Road Stores, Brummell Road, Newbury

  • Budgens Stores, Wash Common

  • Somerfield, Everland Road, Hungerford
