The Royal County of Berkshire Show

Berkshire County Show’s Shopping Spectacular

The organisers of The Royal County of Berkshire Show (15 and 16 September 2007) have finalised the selection of an incredible 500 exhibitors who will make up the shopping extravaganza that the regular 65,000 visitors to the show have come to expect.

To say that it’s possible to buy almost anything under the sun at the show is no exaggeration. From hats to houses and tables to tractors, the show has it covered. There are purchases to suit every pocket just waiting to be made, and whether you want to leave the show in flip flops or a Porsche, the organisers have made it possible.

New additions this year are a number of stands offering ‘alternative’ power solutions. Solar power, rain water harvesting, wind power and composting solutions are just a few of the options on offer. With all the recent media attention being paid to green issues, and people searching for ways of reducing their carbon footprint, these exhibitors are bound to be popular.

Another new feature at the show this year is the covered ‘shopping arcade’, hosting over 40 stands. These will be more ‘petite’ stands, featuring some smaller and unusual exhibitors, who might not ordinarily consider exhibiting at such a large show. A wide range of products including designer clothes and jewellery, baskets and even designer bra straps will be available.

Those after something ‘a little special’ at the show might like to consider becoming a Member. Membership of the Newbury & District Agricultural Society gives a range of benefits throughout the year. At the show it means access to the Members Enclosure, with its own restaurant, bars and exclusive grandstand ideally situated on the Vodafone Arena. There are still a few Memberships left, for details please telephone 01634 247111.

The star attraction in the Vodafone arena will be the JCB Dancing Diggers, and they will be supported by the Band of the Welsh Guards, sheep dogs and the ever impressive balloon display. The Vodafone arena will also host the championship competitions in the cattle, pig, sheep and poultry classes.

Tickets can be purchased now from The Corn Exchange, online at the all new website www.newburyshowground.co.uk, by telephone: 01635 522 733, or in person at the Newbury Showground office. Other local outlets will be selling them from the end of July with details to follow.
