Time Saving Parking System at County Train Stations
Commuters in Berkshire have cause to celebrate, with a new cashless payment system now making parking even easier at the county's railway stations.
Train operator First Great Western has introduced the RingGo system into 60 of its car parks and users of Newbury, Thatcham, Theale, Mortimer and Pangbourne will be just some of those to benefit.
Instead of having to carry cash and risk missing their train by using a pay-and-display machine, commuters can now simply leave their car and pay for their parking by phone.
The parking fee is charged to the customer's credit or debit card, along with an additional 20p for the service.
Tom Stables, commercial director of First Great Western, told Newbury Today: "RingGo is already proving to be a great time saver for our customers as they can now make the call while walking from car to platform."
Mr Stables added that parkers could extend a parking session by making another phone call, meaning that they can overrun their initial time allowance without facing a penalty.
