Local Businesswomen Launch Tasty New Venture
Two local sisters have opened a new cafe/deli, building on the ongoing success of their existing business.

Liz Chandler and Caroline Withers started the award-winning Natures Corner, Newbury's largest natural health store, in 1999 but have wanted to open a cafe for some time.

Caramelle is the result of their dream – a cafe combined with a deli selling local meats, breads and cheeses.

Prior to opening, Ms Chandler said: "It will be a retail food outlet and will bring quite a few treats and surprises.

"It will certainly appeal to most of existing customers and attract lots of new ones."

The cafe, which is situated on Bartholomew Street, is open from 07:30–18:30 GMT on weekdays, from 08:00–18:00 GMT on Saturdays and between 10:00 and 16:00 GMT on Sundays.

Ms Chandler told the Newbury Weekly News: "Come the winter we'll have something called 'Indulgence', which is real, proper hot chocolate made from hot chocolate flakes, so look out for that."

She also revealed that they will be holding a week of events starting on September 23rd to encourage people to come along and see different items.

In keeping with their health food business, the sisters have tried to ensure that local, organic foods are used wherever possible at Caramelle, including a range of local breads and cheeses.
