White water ride for Maidenhead
White water ride for Maidenhead
Waterway trustees look to maximise the waterways for white water canoeists.
New plans for a man-made white water canoeing service could be used to boost a ground-breaking waterways revelation for Maidenhead.
The Waterways Restoration Group for Maidenhead has begun negotiations with Shaun Baker (extreme kayaker) for counsel on the construction of a white water canoeing facility in the heart of Maidenhead’s town.
Representatives are working on the premise that the dry arches running underneath the Chapel Arches will make a perfect base for canoeists to use.
Also being touted as the best area to develop is the weir at Green Lane which would make an excellent white-water canoeing course.
This scheme would all be part of the restoration group's waterways project which would also link a number of canals together creating a traversable route for boats through the town.
It seems that Maidenhead is looking to make the most of its waterways in the hope of attracting as many water sports enthusiasts as possible with the opportunity for team building activities on the agenda.
