Innovation centre 'looks to enhance technology and business'

The future of business innovation looks to be in safe hands after a new linkup between Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art.
A new centre will be created called Design-London and will cost £5.8 million. Under a strategic partnership, the aim of the deal is to improve innovative methods in the engineering, technology and design sectors. It is hoped that what the institutions call an innovative triangle will be created between the three facets. Research will look at the ways in which design can be successfully integrated into technology and businesses in the drive to improve modern services on the marketplace. Moreover, the Incubator facility is designed to support collaborations between diverse disciplines. David Eastwood, chief executive professor at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), which is providing a portion of the funding, said that the partnership exists "to contribute to UK economic success amid intensified global competition". The HEFCE says it aims to promote high quality research in the UK.
