A Tale of ‘Rags to Riches’ |
Dame Stephanie Shirley (or ‘Steve’ as she is more generally known), the Chair of Autism Speaks is to talk about her life at a Kenton Theatre Lecture in Henley-on-Thames on Monday, 1st December 2008.
Steve has called her talk ‘Give and Take’. It is an extraordinary tale of her childhood as an unaccompanied German refugee and her journey to becoming one of England’s most successful businesswomen. She tells the story of her youth, her business achievements and her move to philanthropy, with a difference. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this amazing lady and her life. How she has worked tirelessly to raise funds for autism, why she has given away £55m mainly to autism charities and her hopes/dreams for the future. She is an inspiration and a real success story. Her talk on 1st December will begin at 8pm and tickets are available from the Kenton Theatre Box Office in New Street, Tel: 01491 575698. |
