Council Promotes Height Awareness in the Workplace

Local businesses are due to get free height awareness training from Bracknell Forest Borough Council's environmental health officers.

The council has organised training which will help businesses to implement safety measures for working at height.

A number of suppliers will demonstrate new equipment and staff from the Health and Safety Executive will be on hand to provide advice on measures to take to prevent deaths and injuries.

Councillor Peter North, executive member for public protection and services, said that falls from even low heights could cause significant injuries, a claim which is borne out by figures showing that 60 per cent of height-related injuries result from falls from below head height.

"We aim to reduce these risks by targeting education and safety advice to those who will most benefit," Councillor North explained.

"The training will help make sure you and your staff are safe while out at work, so it is well worth attending."

The workshop has been designed with a range of professions in mind, including painters and decorators, construction industry staff, TV and audio engineers and electricians.

In addition, facility and building managers, housing associations and commercial landlords would all benefit from the session.
