Local businesses are invited to take part in an exercise and networking opportunity which will test their ability to cope in extreme situations.
Exercise Bright Star has been organised by the Berkshire Regional Continuity Forum and will ensure that businesses have contingency plans in place, were they to encounter unforeseen disruption.
Coordinated by Bracknell Forest Borough Council, the exercise is taking place at Bracknell Leisure Centre on Wednesday September 20th.
Louise Osborn, emergency planning manager at Bracknell Forest Borough Council, revealed that the scenario would be linked to adverse weather conditions such as flooding or heavy snow and would help firms to appreciate their impact.
"We want to encourage companies to consider the implications if utilities are compromised and staff cannot get to work, and work together to find solutions to enable them to keep their business running," she explained.
Councillor Peter North, executive member for public protection and services, reiterated the importance of a good business continuity plan.
"No one in business should underestimate the impact that power and water play or the impact of losing them, even for a while," he said.
"If you haven't been to one of these exercises, I would urge you to attend."
