Barack Obama's step-mum in Bracknell |
|||
A Bracknell Mum is set to visit the White House - not surprising, really, since she's the step-mother of the man who's going to be its next inhabitant.
Barack Obama's step-mum lives in an end-of-terrace house on a modest estate in Bracknell. Kezia Obama can often be spotted walking around the town but now she's set to fly to the US for her step-son's inauguration. Kezia, 65, was the incoming President's father's first wife and was married to him when they lived in their homeland of Kenya. In 1985, after his father's death in a car-crash, Barack went to Alego, Kenya, where he met Kezia for the first time. When Barack's mother died of breast cancer in 1995, Kezia became the link to Barack's past. The USA's next President has visited Bracknell many times, perhaps most notably when Auma (Kezia's daughter) got married ten years ago. Barack visited Bracknell and Wokingham to accompany the groom, Ian, on his stag do. The men visited Wokingham's array of pubs and even booked a policewoman stripagram. Kezia moved to the UK six years ago and was invited to celebrate Barack's 2004 inauguration as senator, a visit she is excited to repeat when he is named President. The grandmother of 10 was in Kenya when Barack's historic win was announced, where she celebrated during a street-party with three of her children.
