Companies are being asked to offer their time in an attempt to educate schoolchildren in the world of work.
In order to get pupils placements in businesses around the area Education Business Partnership has launched Skills for Life in Bracknell.
Businesses such as 3M, Barclays and Connexions where amongst those in attendance of the launch at The Open Learning Centre in Brackenhale School.
A representative from EBEBP work experience team commented: “Some of the students are very confident and know what they are going to do. Others are terrified. Some of them just don’t know what they are going to”.
The idea has been in operation in other key areas in east Berkshire for several years, with the team now attempting to get local businesses in the Bracknell area involved.
The Skills for Life scheme is a course of workshops held in by representatives from businesses who give advice on anything from interview techniques to health and safety in the workplace.
Barclays in Wokingham has taken part by running a workshop on interview techniques. They commented that the scheme was a good team-building exercise and helps to build the company profile.
