Good morning,
Reflecting on Barack Obama’s win this morning and how they had literally knocked on every door in every town to get them out to vote. They connected with the public, in the flesh, they had been seen on the streets, they had flyers, they were on TV, his team were everywhere. Listening to him speak, watching his smooth, calm, controlled approach, it was poetry in motion and he screamed past the finishing line! Listening to what’s going on out there on the Berkshire streets, it would seem that management are being told to keep their people under control and get those orders in. For sales people to perform at their best they need to be free to operate the way they do best... so we’d recommend loosening the reins and let your people go out and press the flesh... look at Obama’s campaign. All the statistical analysis over the last 24 hours also had an impact. First thing I did this morning was go in for a bit of analysis and see which was the top story for last week. That was easy, Brian Smith’s Top 10 pointers to beat the recession. What about the most popular articles last month and how did this compare with October 2007? Interestingly enough, the activity levels were very similar. There were more articles clicked on last year, but the number of clicks to emails sent were the same. Interestingly last October’s top ten articles were aggregated more, implying more event based clicking, as they are repeated week on week. This October there has been some key articles that have appeared only once and attracted a bunch of click throughs. If we look at the titles of those articles and bring in last week’s number 1 story, it would appear that evidential business articles are the way to go... Top 3 Stories in October 2008 Christmas shopping in Maidenhead The best marketing tools for acquiring new customers Top of the 20 Key word search strings used in recent weeks Top 3 Event Pages October 2008 www.maryflavelle.com/calendar.html www.salesforceoutsourcing.co.uk/news7.html www.businessinberkshire.co.uk/lmiberkshire/news4.html If we reflect on Asa’s Christmas shopping event. Many of those who took part are also involved with one or more of the local women’s networks and therefore the repetitive nature of information being presented regarding this event ensured its success. I believe it generated over £2500 for charity... I await the story Asa! Also people knowing people will have driven the high click through rate for this story, over 30% higher than the high scoring article in 2nd place!! We like to know what our friends are getting up to! So get out and press the flesh... next up Speed Networking at the Harte & Garter, Windsor tomorrow.. check out Monday’s newsletter. |
