Berkshire businesses have the chance to beat the credit crunch

The Business in Berkshire website has been around for years and so commands the respect of many in Berkshire. A recent survey showed us that 1/3rd of our readers turnover < £100,000 , a third between £100,000 - £1,000,000 and the remaining third turnover £1m+ . So it would be fair to say we represent businesses in Berkshire or they wouldn’t be tuned in, they’d be looking for business news elsewhere.
When we first started it was all about the newsletter. Nobody else did an email newsletter back in 2002 and we’d achieve 50% opening rates or higher! Then, in 2005, we discovered that Google had a penchant for our website when we added content around the Royal Wedding. Today, a search for: pictures of Charles and Camilla finds us still flying high! We took that power to levitate and put it to good use... So we have a great newsletter, read by thousands and web pages that fly up the rankings. While writing this intro (5:20pm on Tuesday 30th September 2008) we have 11,400 pages indexed by Google.co.uk, 16,289 by Yahoo and 14,400 by LIVE. So how can we add value, what else can we bring to the table as everyone is offering SEO and makes great promises? Well, the first thing we should say is we can deliver, but also our news is used by Google Alerts. What are Google Alerts? Last week I went to a networking event and was very disappointed. I put pen to paper and this was pulled by the editor in chief for being too controversial. Yesterday I received an email about how SME businesses are using the “skills” of redundant city traders. I had to laugh and earlier today wrote a piece about it. • I published the story around 3pm this afternoon. • When I checked at 5:26pm it had been indexed 2 hours prior and sat in the top spot for the phrase Media handshake for redundant city traders. • Refine the search and it is still No.1 for redundant city traders with the BBC in 2nd, followed by the Times Online and the Telegraph. • I also signed up for a topical phrase of “redundant city traders” from Google Alerts and guess what was delivered to my mail box... our very own top story! • In between we landed a few orders for our services. • What did you do yesterday afternoon that was topical and circumnavigated the globe? Your news could have the same effect. It just needs to be on a BinB Micro Site which mirrors your own site, magnifying the essence of your world and zooming in on topics that will be of interest to your customer base. So give your business the chance to beat the credit crunch and build your reputation online with a BinB Micro Site and be king of your domain!
