Growing your contact base rapidly
Last week saw my connections grow by over 200% on Linked In from 33 to 78 by connecting with those people who knew me! Today I am going to spend the morning exploring Linked In and connecting with people I don’t know but who know my contacts. Let’s see if we can connect with another 30 business men and women and grow our contacts to over 100! (Some of our contacts have hundreds of connections, they all started with a single contact. It's never too late to take the first steps at building your network!)
We’ll also going to add some of our partners’ content onto Linked IN and see how this drives traffic to the various micro sites we have both within BinB and under their own domain names. Many internet marketers say that having links from various sites can add a booster to your website and its ranking. We went on a campaign five years ago to get local businesses to add links to their sites to BinB which on the whole took a ton of energy and had limited success. Way back then people were not using content management systems, websites were built by their web designers in fixed html and so they had to ask for it to be done amongst other updates. And as we know, if we don’t do stuff right away it tends not to happen as other stuff gets in the way! The way we are approaching this second, belated campaign on link building is to produce three articles a week, a total of ten, which will each have at least six contextual links to the sites we wish to promote over the next 3-6 months. These articles will be published to our sites and also to Linked IN plus other networks. The first three are: We’ll monitor the traffic to and from these articles. Look at the number of links indexed by the search engines and more importantly if the position of web pages for particular key phrases is impacted. Last year a search for famous people born in April found 2 links to our sites on page 1 of Google. The No 1 link went to a businessinberkshire.co.uk page, while the 7th link went to the onthisdayinhistory.co.uk site. The BinB link was clicked by 275 people. How many people do you think clicked on the link in 7th place? Reply to this email and ask and I will tell you if you are interested or call 01753 852904. |
