The FT.com follows Business in Berkshire
(technically!) LiaiseOnline Limited (producers of Business in Berkshire) enjoyed a successful day at the Digital Marketing Zone (DMZ) 2005 conference in East London on Wednesday 9 November. Hosting a stand at the event, attended by over 300 people, LiaiseOnline managing director, Jon Davey, also gave a presentation on: ‘You don’t have to be a huge online business to make online publishing work for you,’ which was followed by the Financial Times’ website, FT.com. Jon explained how LiaiseOnline had evolved and how it led to the ever-growing Business in Berkshire we are all familiar with. He encouraged attendees to have self-belief and passion for their ideas as “this is what keeps you afloat.” Jon also explained that seeing a great idea move forward gives him a real buzz and how, if everyone is passionate about an idea, that energy can be passed on. He stated the recent figures for Business in Berkshire; in October 2005 there were 21,190 visitors to the website, which now contains 114,116 pages. Attendees reacted by asking questions at the end on various subjects, including franchising and advertising. During the FT.com’s presentation that followed, representative Stuart Adam estimated that for every £1 you spend on creating a website, it costs an additional £5 to regularly maintain and refresh it. With a Business in Berkshire account however, this is actually free and easy to manage and maintain! By Sarah Jane Wilson, Penguin Army
