This month’s Business in Berkshire tip is: KISS
Of all the acronyms I have heard, this is probably one of the best known in business circles. KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid. Every week I talk to people who tell me about their great ideas and then proceed to try and explain it, warts and all! Obviously once I lose the thread my mind drifts off onto other business issues but my smile encourages them to demonstrate their enthusiasm for the subject. Most of us want others to tell us how great our ideas are, so there is nothing wrong with allowing someone to go on. At the end I will suggest they aim to get their presentation down to 45 seconds, the elevator pitch. We don’t need to understand the How’s… we don’t care! We need to understand the pain that it solves and if we feel the pain ourselves, we could well be a customer.
