Coffee House Challenge

We have organised a "Coffee House Challenge" to raise awareness of the benefits to employers of providing work placements for young people. The meeting aims to provide employers with an opportunity to find out more about providing placements, dispelling any myths surrounding work placements and sharing best practice.
Providing work placements is important for young people('s) development, and the development of the workforce in the future. Work placements can also serve to keep young people constructively occupied, making a contribution to preventing anti-social behaviour. Believe has set up a project in Reading to provide construction based training for young people not engaged in education, employment or training (NEET), in partnership with the Connexions youth service and the Reading Youth Offending Team. Part of this project is to provide work placements for the young people with employers in the construction and construction 'related' industries. This challenge will lay out the support and benefits available to employers when providing work placements, and will address any concerns that employers may have when considering their involvement with the project.
