Miss England to hail from Berkshire?
The next Miss England could soon hail from Berkshire as one local beauty has set her sights on being crowned the winner of the competition.

Laurie Springate of Twyford is dreaming of winning the Miss England 2008 title and is hoping to make it through to the finals of the beauty pageant by representing Reading, the Maidenhead Advertiser reports.

The 18-year-old is a former pupil of The Piggott School in Twyford and is looking for a way into a career in performing.

She told the publication that she needs the support of the local community and is looking for them to rally round and vote for her.

"I am really hoping to get through to the next round although I need more votes" she said.

She added: "It would be amazing to win and I would be so excited."

It was recently announced by Bracknell News that another Berkshire babe, Sarah-Jane Page, has won the chance to model for News of the World by landing the coveted front page honour.
