The Queen Goes Shopping
Her Majesty The Queen will formally open the recently developed £20 million King Edward Court Shopping Centre on Friday, February 29, at 12 pm.
The Queen will again officially open King Edward Court twenty eight years after she and husband Prince Phillip opened King Edward Court to shoppers in 1980.
Her Majesty will travel by car through the Windsor Royal Shopping Centre stopping outside Carluccio’s restaurant, where press will be located.
She will then unveil a commemorative plaque in King Edward Court.
Margaret Tagg, of King Edward Court, disclosed this week: “We are absolutely thrilled – it’s a fantastic honour. We have had a few setbacks getting to this stage but we are finally here and we are delighted.”
“I think it’s a fabulous shopping centre that will attract many people to Windsor. We’ve had a lot of positive comments already and we’re looking forward to welcoming Her Majesty for a special day”.
Paul Roach, Windsor town centre manager, stated: “Windsor has been looking forward to the completion of King Edward Court Shopping Centre for some time, and with the new retailers and the enlarged Waitrose, it’s a massive boost to the town”.
“The Queen opened the centre after it was built more than 25 years ago, so the fact she has agreed to do so again is really the icing on the cake”.
