Local art unveiled by Queen
The Queen unveiled a piece of art made by a woman from Slough, it has emerged.
A sculpture for a new scientific facility in nearby Oxfordshire was made by Paula Groves, who was born in Slough and spent the early years of her life in Iver, the Slough Express reports.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh opened the new facility in Didcot and unveiled the futuristic, stainless steel sculpture.
She told the publication of her delight that the head monarch was to see the sculpture.
"I was thrilled when I found out that the Queen was to unveil my sculpture. It was the proudest moment of my life and hopefully it will help to raise the profile of my business," she said.
Ms Groves, 38, has also exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh also attended the opening of a new entrance at Pinewood studios recently.
