Village Fetes & Country Fairs
Yesterday we went to Kilnsey Show in North Yorkshire.
We'd gone up to Yorkshire on Sunday for my mum's birthday. She was sixty something and obviously enjoys having her family around her on that special day.
Monday, her official birthday, we had a picnic on the moors. 'Eye that's reet, Ilkely Moor bar tat!! Followed by icecreams at Valley Gardens, Harrogate and a chinese for tea!
The heather was out on the moors and the views across Wharfedale were magnificent. That cloud coming in from left field put a damper on proceedings, but not for long. How the weather can change from one minute to the next - but at least you can see it coming across the valley.
Yesterday, Tuesday, we visited Kilnsey Show. There were many events for both man and beast held in the valley bottom with the mountains closing right in for a good look! There was even one brave climber braving the escarpment for an even better view!!
It got me thinking about this years summer holiday which has just flown by. Next year we are going to spend the whole summer at home and spend Thursday through to Sunday doing family things. And on a bunch of these days I would like to take in some, if not all, of the village fetes and country fairs that are going on around the county.
Please can you send in your stories around the fetes and fairs you've been to this year in and around Berkshire. Send in your pictures too and we'll publish them right here so that we and others can see what they could put in our diaries for next year!
