BusinessinBerkshire.co.uk is an online business to business website and email newsletter which has been around over 4 years.
Our readers enjoy our communications and the search engines love us too… this means our content is flying high on a great variety of search strings.
Businesses are looking to build awareness… we can help… they just need to know about it and that’s where you come in.
The newsletter was created to help us promote our email marketing business back in 2002 (LiaiseOnline.co.uk). We recognised the limitations of simply talking about yourself in an email… it soon becomes boring for the recipients. Carrying a variety of content made sense and Business in Berkshire was born.
After 2 years we found ourselves spending 2-3 days a week compiling the 2 newsletters… Monday focuses on events and Wednesday takes a PR focus. To speed up the compilation it made sense to employ a content management system. Our members could add content and all we’d need to do is build the email.
Obviously, it’s not that simple but it did speed up the process massively and we continued to grow…
All this time we hadn’t charged for our service. Six months after the launch of the new website, spring 2005, we noticed the search engines were driving more and more traffic to our site. In the autumn we started to refine our service and develop a pricing model.
January 2006 and we made the business decision to focus on Business in Berkshire. March saw over 36,000 visitors to 160,000 pages… and we go from strength to strength…
May 4th saw 3213 visitors to 9859 pages!
We are on the radar of the professional Internet marketing organisations and evolving mutually beneficial partnerships as we drive along the M4 highway!
Our target is to have 100 Crusader accounts by the start of 2007.
A Berkshire Crusader member pays £360 + Vat per quarter for the following service:
• Initially we create an account on our website which reflects their business.
• Every 6 weeks a journalist will contact them to discuss the next article / promotion… a 20 minute chat will result in 250 words of flowing content.
• The journalist will forward to one of our designers who will create the appropriate image and A4 pdf.
• The web manager will then add the content to the web space on BinB.
• The pdf will be sent to the client for use internally.
• The content will appear in the relevant BinB newsletter(s).
In addition:
• The client can promote any events and seminars that are open to other business leaders.
• Add other content, in their own time, to a number of areas of their web space.
With over 500 businesses listed in our directory and many changing content on a regular basis, we are what the search engines are looking for… as they say, “Prove of the pudding is in the eating”.
