Tracking Emails Enables You to Change Direction Rapidly
Last week Business in Berkshire newsletters announced an event which would have a guest speaker who is flying high in the USA, sponsor two charities and announce our business competition for 2006.
The stats show in real time:
• 14th November - 31 clicked on Carlana’s blog, 29 on more information about the event
• 16th November – 35 and 21 on more information
And how many bookings? A few verbal acknowledgements but no online bookings…
Let’s look at the facts. The original plan was £50 for a lunch with a guest speaker who is big in the USA but as yet unknown in the UK. We promoted the event around the speaker and the two charities that will gain from people’s generosity. We have decided to refocus the event....
We would like to invite all Business in Berkshire members to meet, greet and share some Christmas spirit.
We've moved venue as the original hotel changed the rules…
Monday (21st Nov) will see the event promoted as a Business in Berkshire Christmas lunch for £25 and the charity element will be mixed with the ability for the businesses to promote themselves. They can stand up and offer something on which others will bid… their name will be in lights on our newsletter and the website… the charity wins, the business wins and we all have a jolly nice Christmas dinner (lunch)!
The guest speaker will gain some publicity and in six months we’ll all be able to say, “I had lunch with Carlana Stone don’t ya know!!”

The interesting thing to note is that on the 14th November Carlana’s link is the most popular and positioned at the bottom of the email. On the 16th it is currently joint 3rd and was at the top of the email newsletter!
For 16th a story about Dominic Killinger, MD of Square Mile, is currently top with 110 clicks. This story was hot of the press and first published by BusinessinBerkshire.co.uk… a first for us in regards to a big news story… most of our stories are firsts!
