Trafalgar Celebrations 21st October 2005
Thanks to Bracknell RNA a local celebration of Trafalgar and Nelson’s victory over France & Spain was able to go ahead.
On Friday night Ali & I were invited to join Bracknell RNA and local dignitaries at Binfield Club for a celebration of Trafalgar and Nelson’s victory over France & Spain.
European legislation and the need for differing council departments to make ends meet meant that the planned open air party couldn’t go ahead. But, like Nelson before them, the Royal Naval Association did not let some European rules and a bunch of “headless chickens” get in the way of a having a great party!
Around 100 of us enjoyed good old roast beef & Yorkshire puddings followed by grandma’s apple pie and custard. This was sunk with the aid of plenty of red & white wine and of course, some Lamb’s Navy Rum which added sparkle to proceedings! Thanks to Reverend Bill for keeping this “glob head” topped up.
Thank you to Bracknell RNA for a great night. A few quid was raised to help Bracknell RNA continue its great work for helping old sea dogs get their land legs!
With a never ending tide of nations looking to the UK for ever increasing contributions to help with this or that and then the funds ending up in some diplomats purse… let’s start looking closer to home where our time, energy and resources can be used more productively to help our own nation become truly great again.
