Survey to Improve Prospects for Berkshire Youths
Businesses in Berkshire could be suffering as a result of poor public transport in rural areas.
Young people in a number of West Berkshire villages have been asked to give details on the ways in which travel difficulties are affecting their ability to find work and training opportunities, according to icBerkshire. Jon Cole, business manager at the Community Council of Berkshire, commented: "We hear many reports of the travel difficulties experienced by young people living in rural Berkshire, but we do not know exactly how big the problem is. "This survey is the first step in getting to grips with the issue. We need everyone in the target age range to complete and return a questionnaire." Mr Cole revealed that government money is available to address the problem, but that evidence was required before solutions could be proposed. The survey will involve teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19 in the villages of Chaddleworth, Chieveley and Hermitage.
