Insource Software Solutions Reassure an Embattled NHS

Recent news reports indicate that Accenture is withdrawing from the NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT). Coupled with assertions of drastic change to the traditional model of hospital care from Patricia Hewitt, recent strikes, and enormous concern surrounding IT failures and the associated deteriorating confidence in the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) it seems that a port in the NHS IT storm is required.

Accenture’s proposed withdrawal will justifiably cause great concern especially since, as the Guardian states, Accenture is responsible for the deployment of 89% of GP surgery IT systems and 94% of Community Primary Care systems.

But there is proof that IT solutions can, do, and are still working well in the NHS. Insource, specialists in Business Intelligence, data warehousing and reporting solutions to the NHS, are using their affordable, flexible information solutions to soothe NHS concerns. These are solutions that address the immediate issues in NHS organisations, and they have been selected by the people who use the solutions themselves, rather than being dealt down from on-high. Moreover, the way that people get access to the information they require is personal and can be tailored for each individual user of the system.

“I have found it very easy to work with Insource”, says a satisfied Primary Care Trust manager who has been working with Insource’s solutions for several years. “They have a good project management methodology and they are very keen to understand our business as well as being very proactive.”

Insource recently hosted an extremely successful seminar on their software products which was well attended by NHS senior managers and their representatives. “I was impressed”, said Wendy Tate of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mental Health Trust, “It was very professional and the speakers were very interesting.” Salim Siddiqi, Deputy Director of Finance at Bracknell Forest Primary Care Trust adds “It was really brilliant. It was very focused with the time spent available to you. Everybody from Insource seemed to know the topic inside out.”

In the uncertain times the NHS is currently facing, it is reassuring to recognise that there are IT service providers who know what they are talking about and can provide IT solutions that are intuitive, easy to use, easy to obtain information from and are, in addition, according to Siddiqi, “good value for money”. These same products have a long and successful history of assisting NHS providers in managing their database and reporting workloads. The tools in place are, “delivering data directly to the end user and supporting them to meet their own routine information requirements rather than having to come through the information team” according to a current PCT manager who uses Insource products.

“We are delighted to be able to help the NHS with their IT needs in business intelligence, data warehousing and reporting in any way we can”, says Rob Davenport, Insource’s IT Director, “And we look forward to continuing our long, healthy and productive relationship with the NHS in the years to come.”

Concern over the future of NPfIT should not paralyse Trusts who recognise the need to push forward with Business Intelligence solutions. Insource is ready and able to implement big and small, cost-effective, quick to commission solutions for the NHS, despite the enormous turmoil it is currently experiencing with IT.
