Young Berkshire footballers can start road to World Cup
Young footballers inspired by the World Cup are being offered the opportunity to emulate their England heroes with a special summer camp. Bracknell Leisure Centre will host the town's annual camp and this year it will be run by the Premier League Champions, Chelsea.
The team's soccer schools scheme is behind this year's camp, giving local Lampard wannabes the opportunity to try and develop the tough tackling of Terry or the clever foot work of Joe Cole. The camp will run for five days and will really put those on it through their paces. Chelsea has a long-running football in the community scheme and has run FA Charter Standard Soccer Schools around the South East for the last 13 years. They always prove popular and with the local footballing success recently combined with the World Cup, this camp should fill up quickly too. Iain McCracken, executive member for Leisure and Corporate Services at Bracknell Forest Borough Council, said: "These football camps are very worthwhile and encourage young people to lead healthy and active lives. "I'm sure the opportunity to achieve the successes of their favourite Chelsea and England players will be a major draw in a world cup year." It will be open to boys and girls aged five to 14 between July 31st to August 4th and August 7th to August 11th.
