Berkshire celebrity to live like a King
One of Berkshire's resident celebrities has fought off stiff competition to secure himself a house that belonged to music legend, Elvis Presley.
Psychic Uri Gellar, who also chooses to live in Reading's Thames Street, secured the Memphis property through an internet auction. Presley lived in the property during the 1950s. Uri secured it with a group of bidding partners from the US and the UK. He said he knew that the house wouldn't turn out to be a heartbreak hotel when an Elvis song came on the radio at the end of the bidding process. Rather than getting all shook up, he took it as a sign. "That was Elvis telling me we got the house," he said to the Reading Evening Post. "Elvis was a very spiritual individual and believed in strange and bizarre things like UFOs," he added. Mr Gellar finally ended up paying out £481,346.87 for the home of the King, so it is definitely one for the money.
