Survey reveals need for online marketing education
|
Marketers are failing to make the most of the marketing opportunities offered by the internet, a study has found.
The survey carried out by the organisers of the forthcoming ad:tech London marketing event, discovered that despite rating the reach of the web very highly, only half of those asked used banner advertising. A third said they used search engine optimisation to help create awareness for their companies and a lowly seven per cent had begun to utilise blogging as a marketing resource. Christophe Asselin, the event's marketing manager said that marketers were continuing to play it safe when it came to the online techniques they were using. "Marketers constantly need continuous education when it comes to online marketing tools," she said. "It should never be assumed that technology is just simply adopted. It isn't. Straightforward education and information, keeping it simple and avoiding techno jargon are what marketers need in order to feel more confident in adopting different online marketing tools." Just 13 per cent said they had started to use mobile marketing. None of the respondents had attempted to use advertgaming. |
