Berkshire marketing master promotes free for all |
||||
A Berkshire marketing expert has been describing the business principle that he believes is the key to boosting success.
Steve Mills, the head of Max-marketing, said that thinking about what you can give to your customers, rather than what you wish to achieve, can have a profound effect on the way you do business. Despite being able to boost the profits of companies he was working with, the marketing maestro found that something was wrong with his own marketing strategy. "Then, one day, it finally clicked," he said, writing on the icBerkshire website. "I decided, literally overnight to shift my emphasis totally. I decided to stop selling and start giving." Mr Mills said that once he started giving away free advice and showing businesses how to improve instead of simply claiming to be able to, clients immediately began to contact him for his input. He describes the idea as "the principle driving force behind successful marketing in the 21st Century". "I learned some profound lessons. The first is that in business, as in life, giving is a great experience," he explained. "The second was that most businesses wait until a client or customer gives them money before they start adding value to that customer's life. Start adding value now and, believe me, the customers will come to you."
