Berkshire hi-tech high-flyer takes success to the garden
|
A former hi-tech businesswoman from Berkshire has successfully re-skilled herself in another field altogether.
Siegrun O'Sullivan trained at Vienna University as a translator and worked as manager of the translation department at ICL/Fujitsu, but decided several years ago that her dream lay job lay not in languages but in flowers and soil. To follow her ambitions, Ms O'Sullivan established A Garden Dream – a garden design company. She said that TV shows such as Ground Force have created significant interest in garden design services. But unlike the TV shows, A Garden Dream does not try to create the perfect garden in a couple of days. "It is not just a case of getting the right blend of plants; the garden must have its own structural architecture, plants are an important part but not everything," said Ms O'Sullivan. Describing her key guidelines, she added that her gardens "must be beautiful all year round, even in seasons when the plants are dormant and there is little colour", while they should also practical and relaxing. |
