Real 21st century marketing for real ale campaign
Beer lovers will be raising a glass to a new online marketing push from a real ale campaign group.
The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) has launched a new website, designed and hosted by Oxford Internet Consultants. It hopes the new site will give it a greater campaign focus, attracting more beer lovers to the real ale cause. It also hopes to make it easier for people to become involved in Camra activities. "This ranges from protesting about the closure of a brewery, lobbying for an honest full pint or showing disappointment in the chancellor's recent budget decision to increase duty on a pint of beer whilst freezing it on champagne," said Camra's head of marketing Louise Ashworth. "You can email the Chancellor from our home page to show what you think of his decision!" It should provide a real stamp of quality for the campaign, convincing authorities and the drinks industry to take it more seriously. "We wanted to make it clear what Camra stands for, and that we campaign for quality real ale, good pubs and consumer rights in relation to the drink's industry," Ms Ashworth said. She added: "We hope that visitors to our site will be able to gain more of an understanding of why our 80,000 members feel real ale is superior to other beers." Berkshire beer lovers can find the new site at www.camra.org.uk
