More businesses attracted to Berkshire
More companies are seeing the benefits of doing business in Berkshire, as demand for office space in the county's main centres increased.
A report by property services firm Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) found that Slough, Reading, Maidenhead and Bracknell had all registered increased demand for office space from businesses over the past year.
Bracknell did particularly well, with office space take-up for 2005 reaching a four-year high. A total of 161,254 sq ft was let, almost doubling the amount let in 2004.
The company's report looked at conditions across the M4 corridor.
Mike Thatcher, LSH's head of investment division, said: "The pace of cash flow in the M4 corridor shows no sign of weakening and an increase in the range of investors in the market has intensified the lack of stock."
He described Reading town centre as an "investment hotspot" and believed that more investment would come to the area over the coming months.
Charles Rowton-Lee, LSH's national head of offices, added: "With the UK economy forecast to see a higher rate of growth in 2006, the prospects for office demand remain positive."
