Businesses shown how to help profits and the environment
|
Berkshire businesses could be saving thousands of pounds simply by adopting some simple waste management measures, according to a local council.
Bracknell Forest Borough Council linked up with the Buckinghamshire and Berkshire Sustainable Business Partnership this week to show how effective waste management could help local businesses make considerable savings. There was also an opportunity for businesses to organise a free waste audit and practical advice was given on how to reduce costly waste. Colin Griffin, community and environmental team leader, said: "A good waste management programme is beneficial for businesses - it saves money and also helps protect the environment." Mary Ballin, a local councillor, added: "Bracknell Forest has a splendid record of recycling. Small measures now can make a very significant impact in the future," labelling the event as "valuable and interesting for local businesses". The cost to businesses of waste disposal and energy has been on the increase over recent years, but the organisers of the recent event, which took place at South Hill Park, said many of these costs are needless and can be easily reduced with a little know-how.
