Workshop to put Berkshire young people in pole position

Young people from around Berkshire are being invited to pull up to a motoring workshop designed to teach them how to keep safe and be smart when it comes to cars.
The event, run by Bracknell Forest Borough Council and the Berkshire Association of Clubs for Young People, will take place next month. The county's keen young drivers will have the chance to try out a dual controlled car under safe supervision. Road safety, basic maintenance and practical driving awareness will also be discussed at the workshop. "Our aim is to give young people as much knowledge as possible on how to drive safely, hazards they could come across and to be aware of how the car works," said Chris Pickett, road safety officer at Bracknell Forest Borough Council. "I would encourage young people, from the age of 16 to enrol on this workshop as it is an opportunity to gain some very good information and possibly to drive a car for the very first time." Mary Ballin, executive member for planning and transportation for the council, added: "This course could be the difference between being involved in a road incident or not and I would encourage all young people to take advantage of this offer and to enrol themselves." The course will be charging off the start line on April 11th at the Sandhurst Sports Centre.
