Search is on for best customer care

The one aspect of a business that consumers come into the greatest contact with is often the customer service department and customers now have a chance to nominate the Berkshire businesses that they believe have the best customer care.
Reading's finest customer service superstars will be recognised in the Reading Chronicle Customer Service Awards, now in their sixth year. Those who take the time to nominate possible winners will also have the chance of scooping a prize. Three nominators will share shopping vouchers worth £200 that they could spend at Berkshire's friendliest businesses. There are two categories for the awards, with one prize going to a restaurant or bar and another going to a store. A special award will also go to the store, bar or restaurant that gives the best overall impression to its visitors. Overall winners are treated for a weekend for two in Paris. Last year's champions were an Italian restaurant manager and a supermarket worker who was said to be so popular with customers that a queue often formed at her till while others were completely free. Last year brought in 500 entries. This year's nominations must be in by May 27th and can be made by visiting www.icberkshire.co.uk/serviceawards/
