Stars are born in Slough
|
Although people who care about their community often don't get the plaudits they no doubt deserve, the people of Slough have been given an opportunity to put that right.
The Mayor of Slough Latif Khan has appealed to local residents to nominate anyone that they think has made an outstanding contribution to local life and the community.
Two stars will be born as a result of the scheme, with one person being named as Slough Star of the Year, and one named as Slough Young Star of the Year, open to anyone under the age of 18.
The awards will be handed out at the same time the new mayor is sworn into office, on May 18th.
Latif Khan, Mayor of Slough, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise those residents who go above and beyond the call of duty in the borough.
"If you know someone who has made a particular contribution to the lives of others in the community, why not put them forward for these awards."
Application forms are available from the town hall, community centres, libraries, leisure centres and other council venues. The closing date is April 10th.
