Berkshire residents and businesses consulted on new road system
Businesses and residents in Reading are being asked for their views on a new one way ring road proposed for the city.

The inner distribution road (IDR) would cost £9 million to complete if it gets the green light. Those supporting the project say that it would reduce jams and boost access to the town.

Before it can go into production, Reading Borough Council have to complete a statutory five-week consultation which begins today.

The council has involved the business community in its plans already.

John Howarth, Lead Councillor for Strategic Planning and Transport, said:

"The proposals to make the IDR one way is vital for the future of Reading.

"Residents, businesses and key stakeholders have already been involved and this provides a further opportunity to make comments in line with the statutory process. All comments received will be considered by the council."

Plans for the IDR can be viewed at the town's libraries as well as at the civic centre and the council's website.
