Berkshire boasts UK's most luxurious hotel
People seeking a little luxurious living need look no further than Berkshire, as the county is home to what has been voted the UK's most luxurious hotel.

Cliveden House hotel, in Taplow, impressed the panel for the Luxury Link website, which documents the world's classiest accommodation.

They took location, quality of service, uniqueness and the overall feeling of luxury offered into consideration before reaching the decision.

Cliveden House finished 12th overall in the top 50 chart, making it the highest ranked UK hotel.

Owners claim that the hotel has a "palpable sense of history" as it has been a top location for the rich and famous for over three centuries. Winston Churchill, President Roosevelt, Harold Macmillan, George Bernard Shaw and Charlie Chaplin are some of the famous names who have been guests at Cliveden.

Sat in the middle of 376 acres of gardens and parklands it is not hard to see why the judges were so impressed, as the house blends perfectly with Berkshires beautiful countryside.

The honour comes after a Berkshire restaurant was named as the world's best. Restaurant magazine's international panel of 600 chefs chose the Fat Duck, in Bray, as the globe's finest food outlet.
The menu is innovative to say the least, with diners offered such gourmet treats as snail porridge and smoked bacon and egg ice cream.
